What's in 7.0

Version 7.0.0

Accounts Sign in with Google to keep your projects, yarn palettes and preferences in an account and open them on any device. They sync by themselves, and the first time you sign in you can choose which projects and palettes already in your browser to add. Your account starts with a made-up display name, so your real name is never shown unless you choose it. Accounts are optional. Read all about it in the Version 7 release post.

Gallery Pages & Ravelry Publish a project or yarn palette to the gallery from its menu in My Library, or the Project or Palette menu. Each one has a single gallery page that updates when you change it, shows your display name or stays anonymous, and follows it into the Trash and back. Pages that show your name are collected on Your Gallery. You can also link your Ravelry account and post a project to Ravelry, photos and yarns included. Star other people's projects and palettes to find them again under Starred in My Library; only you see your stars.

My Library, Saved Palettes & Auto-Save The new My Library lists your saved projects and yarn palettes, as cards or a list, with filters. You can name your projects, and deleted projects and palettes go to a Trash for 30 days, so they can be put back. Once a project is saved, your changes save by themselves; Save is now in the top bar, and the Project menu has everything else. Find it at the top of the site menu

Yarn Palette Tools Save yarn palettes to use again later, copy a palette's link in one click, and save a palette as an image with a choice of layouts. Paste Colors reads lists of hex codes forgivingly, Get Colors From an Image has been rebuilt around markers on the photo, and palettes can be sorted from warm to cool. The Yarn Palette Creator has a Palette menu, like the Project menu, to export or share a palette, start a project with it, or open a recent one. Get Colors offers My Palettes, the Palette Gallery and Preset Gradients (formerly Schemes), and in the Project Planner, the Project menu exports and saves each gauge's palette.

Preferences Preferences have their own page, opened from the person icon in the top bar, with previews of each theme. You can choose a default yarn, which is picked first wherever no yarn is chosen yet, and turn off motion touches with Reduce Motion.

Ranges Ranges are written the same way everywhere (Project Planner, gallery, palette images, PDFs and Google Sheets): From → To, with which ends each range includes said once above them. Changed: if a day fits two overlapping ranges, it now takes the first range's color (the highest on the gauge), as the documentation says, instead of the last one's, so some previews with overlapping ranges may change. Day counts still include every day in each range. Fixed: with Low to High and Neither, a range included its To number.

New PDF Design The PDF has been redesigned to match the site: each gauge's colors as a list or a grid of cards, with numbered round swatches, yarn names that are never cut off, and an option to fill each color in. A new summary page shows the project and its preview, and each gauge's page starts with its palette at a glance. Choose US Letter or A4 paper, and the PDF remembers your choices. Accented letters in yarn and place names now print correctly.

Easier on Phones On phones, dialogs now open as sheets from the bottom of the screen. Drag one down to close it. The header fits better on small screens, too.

Project Gallery A project's name, if you've given it one, now shows in the Project Gallery above its locations and dates. The gallery now opens sorted by Popular, the most viewed in the past month (or day, week or year), and Popular works together with search and the yarn and pattern filters. Visits to project pages now count toward Popular, and each card shows how many times it's been viewed.

Privacy The Privacy Policy has been rewritten to be clearer. Fonts are now served from this site, and videos only load from YouTube when you choose to play one.

Version 5.27.0

Modified Colorway: Sage Green (Scheepjes - Catona) There was an error with the Sage Green colorway from Scheepjes - Catona (it was the same color as the Kiwi colorway). This update fixes the Sage Green colorway so that it is no longer the same color as the Kiwi colorway. If you previously tried to save the Sage Green colorway in your project or yarn palette, it instead saved it as the Kiwi colorway in most cases. So you may need to update your saved project or yarn palette by selecting the new Sage Green colorway instead of the Kiwi colorway.

An option has also been added to not fill missing data when using Meteostat as a weather source. To see the new settings, press the Weather Source button in the Project Planner. If you notice any issues or have feedback about the new model settings, please contact me.

Version 5.3.0

Added Feature: Moon Phase Gauge Add colors for phases of the moon into your preview designs.

Version 5.2.35

Fixed Weather Data Dates Issue #2 The fix introduced in v5.2.33 didn't completely solve the issue of dates shifting; some locations were still experiencing the issue. This update addresses the issue by using Universal Time Coordinated (UTC) throughout the application when converting dates, with added fixes to keep the v5.2.33 functionality in the cases where that update solved the problem. If you notice any issues regarding weather data, please let me know.

Version 5.2.33

Fixed Weather Data Dates Issue An issue for some locations (I believe it was introduced in v5.2.2) caused weather data dates to be off by one in the weather table and/or the preview image. I believe the issue was caused by how dates were converted throughout the application between ISO 8601 strings ('YYYY-MM-DD') and Date objects in Universal Time Coordinated (UTC). This update addresses the issue by converting ISO 8601 dates to Date objects using the local timezone instead of UTC. If you notice any issues regarding weather data, please let me know.

March 2025

Version 5.2.2

Fixed Meteostat Weather Data Issue An issue was introduced in v5.0.0 where weather data from Meteostat was slightly different than previous versions. This happened because the location's elevation was not being included in the weather data request. This update fixes the issue by including the location's elevation in the weather request, so weather data from Meteostat should be the same as before the v5.0.0 update.

Version 5.2.0

February 2025

Version 4.19.1

Fixed Daytime Rows Preview Image The Daytime Rows preview image was inaccurately representing the number of daytime and night stitches in each row. This update uses the actual daytime and night stitches values to generate the preview image, ensuring that it accurately reflects the values in the stitches table. Consequently, the apparent line between the daytime and night sections in the preview image may appear more jagged (less of a smooth curve). However, it provides a more precise representation of the final project's appearance. Only the Daytime Rows preview image in the Project Planner is affected by this update; preview images on Project Gallery pages created before this update remain unchanged.

September 2024
